CTC CHAMPIONS hold the first all family sportive day with rides for everyone. There are 2 sportive routes to test the regular cyclists and the long hilly offering a good ride for experienced riders and the short flat route to offer a great first taste or come and try ride for those riders with ambitions of bigger rides later in the year.
Finally there is a complete family friendly fully signed ride around the cycle routes of Swindon all starting and finishing from Lydiard Park on the out skirts of the town.
Get one entry FREE with every fully paid entry, just turn up on the day with your extra rider and they ride for FREE (just fill the entry form on the day)
Both sportive routes will be fully arrowed and timed with a feed stop half way around each route. The start and registration will have free tea and coffee and on your return you can collect your ride certificate. Full mechanical checkups will be available at the start and the Shimano service BMW motorcycle will be out along the route, to ensure your safety.
The feed point at Bushton Village Hall will have tea, coffee, energy drinks, bars, gels, fruit and cake, to keep everyone well fuelled for both rides.
A new addition to the rides will be the options of having a ride leader take you around the course offering advice and tips on nutrition while riding with you, just book in at the start.
We will also, should you suffer a terminal bike or leg failure have a “broom wagon” to get you back to the start.

The Family ride of 16kms, is suitable for all ages as the route is based off road following cycle paths and routes around the town for safety. The route will be fully signed from start to finish and a map will be available at registration in the Education Centre in Lydiard Park. Short cuts will also be signed to help younger riders. The ride will start at 10.30, from the Education Centre and we advise everyone to use the Hook Lane entrance and for parking
Final Instructions
Welcome to the CTC CAMPIONS FAMILY RIDES AND SPORTIVES
Please check you have read the following instructions, and make a note of the emergency telephone numbers at registration.
On leaving the start in small groups, you will timed out and on your return timed back in for safety reasons and this is not a race so please adhere to the Highway Code at all times.
There will be free tea and coffee at the start from 08.00 when registration opens in the Education Centre by the main house, follow the signs from the car park.
Please check the notice board for your name and number before signing on.
Please ask your free rider to complete a registration form attached to this email or at registration on arrival at the separate table before signing on, this will help speed up the process, thank you.
The Feed stop will have energy drinks and a gel plus fruit cakes and sausage rolls to keep you going free tea and coffee will also be available.
Family ride registration forms will be available at registration only.
Please note we reserve the right to alter, amend or change the route or times in the event of inclement weather or road conditions, on the day.
EVENT DETAILS
- Start and Finish Lydiard Park, Swindon and follow the car park signs to the Hook Lane entrance, and the marshalls directions on entering the park. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE HAY LANE ENTRANCE
- Entry fee £20 on the day includes extra rider free
- All cycles must be mechanical sound and we will help with a quick check at the start.
- All riders will be expected to carry spare tubes and a pump to repair their own punctures.
- START TIMES from 09.00 to 09.30 FEED Closes at 2pm and Timing at 4pm.
- FAMILY RIDE STARTS at 10.30 to 11.30 closes at 3pm
- There will only be 1 cafe open from 09.00am on the day.
- Please follow all signs in the park and ride with caution at all times, being courteous to other Park users
- For Safety Reasons (We reserve the right to bring riders back if they are to finish outside these times).

- There will not be a first aid en route and any serious accident should be referred to the Ambulance service and HQ notified as soon as possible, stating the injured riders number.
- Please note this is a sportive and not a race and all riders must adhere to the Highway Code at all times and be courteous to all other roads users and fellow cyclists.
