This classic event started when the Tour of Britain started in Worcester in 2007 and we have followed most of the original route but added our own bits to make it even tougher.

The classic Malvern climb followed by Ankerdine still feature but the route then takes in Stanhope Bank before Tenbury Wells and a short excursion into Shropshire before returning to tackle the ?killer option? of Wynniattes Way (a 25% monster) but only if you want to!!

After the feed point supplying energy drinks, bars, gels, fresh fruit and cake, which is visited twice there are five more listed climbs before returning to Worcester and a hot meal to replenish your energy stores.

The start and Finish is at Worcester racecourse in the centre of Worcester with an easy run in and out of the City and a cycle route finish to avoid the traffic.

There are 2 main sportive routes available a full 92 miler and a shorter 60 miler, there is a feed for the shorter route and the 2 stops for the long ride (30mile and 60miles approx) same location.

Wheels and Wheels will operate their well proven signage plus extra warning signs when required and the ?Killer Option? will be clearly marked for those wishing to attempt the climb the distance difference is less than 1 mile.

There will be a service bike, NEG outriders and a broom wagon should your legs fail you or for terminal mechanicals.

Signing on will be available on Saturday from 17.00 to 18.30 and again on Sunday morning from 07.00am to collect your chip timing and bike numbers for recognition so our photographer can capture your efforts en route.

The start will be from 08.30 to 09.00 for both rides and the start will be in small groups of 10-15, at minute intervals.
The extensive car parking is by Registration in the centre of the Racecourse so please follow the signs to the HQ/Registration.

Final instructions will be published on the website 1 week before the event and emailed out to each entrant on Thursday after entries close at midnight on Wednesday 12th October.

FINAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR TOUR OF WORCESTERSHIRE 2011

Welcome to the latest CTC Challenge Ride- the Tour of Worcestershire.

Previously the Wheels in Wheels event-Ride the Route which takes in a large part of the Tour of Britain stage from Worcester to Wolverhampton.

HQ

The Centre Building, Worcester Racecourse, entry via Severn Terrace, WorcesterPlease note the Race course post code takes you to another location.
Please follow the? cycle event car park? signs which will take through a public car park into the centre of the course.

REGISTRATION

Registration will open from 07.00am on Sunday morning; there will not be any registration available on Saturday as listed on some websites.

Please look for your name listed alphabetically and go to the correct signing on desk.

Entries on the day please complete the entry form and correct money where possible. ?32 for non members and ?22 for CTC members.

Please collect your bike number and timing chip and tick which route you propose to ride. You can change mid way but please inform the timing team on your return.

START

This will be from outside the main grandstand between 08.00 and 09.00 for both routes, in small groups of 10-15 at minute intervals. If you wish to ride as a group please get your team members together ready for the start, and let the timing people know.

ROUTE

The route will be fully arrowed before, on and a confirmation within 200m of each turn. Extra warning signs will be placed where necessary and we advise you adjust your riding to the conditions and warning signs displayed. We will also warn you of narrow and gravelled sections along the route.

There are 3 points on the route that require extra care firstly the ?killer option? only on the long route which is a very steep 1 in 4 climb adding 1 mile onto the overall ride but is very difficult, and therefore can be an option as listed so follow the correct signage you wish to attempt the climb.

Secondly there is a very very steep descent into a ?ford? which has a footbridge crossing as well, there will be extra signage to warn riders and we will advise at the registration the conditions for all these points on the course.

Lastly the route covering the final miles into Worcester follows the cycle route 57 and goes through a park and onto cycle paths bringing you onto the race course at the northern end and finishes outside the main Grandstand on the cycle path. Please be aware of pedestrians and dog walkers over the last 2 miles.

FEED POINTS

There is only one feed station situated Great Witney in the car park of the Hundred House Hotel, this will be visited twice on the long ride and once on the short route. There will be bars, gels and nutrition drinks available plus fruit and cake. The Hotel allows us to use their toilets facilities plus you can get tea and coffee from the bar if you so wish.

There will be tea and coffee available at the start for riders and an after ride snack on returning to the finish with tea or coffee. Teas, coffees and snacks will be also available to purchase from the HQ.

ROUTE SERVICING

We will have our BMW service bike out and about the course to help with more than the odd puncture where we can. We do expect all riders to carry a spare tube and pump to repair their own punctures en route, however in the event of a terminal breakdown we will endeavour to get you back on the road or collected by the Broom wagon and return you to Worcester. Please note that assistance can take some time to reach you so we would appreciate your patience.

Spares will also be available at the feed point and all our service vehicles along the route.

Finally please make a note of the 2 EMERGENCY TELEPHONE NUMBERS BEFORE LEAVING THE START.

There will not be first aid en route and please notify the emergency number of any incidents and if serious enough please contact the emergency services directly.

We will if deemed necessary remove riders from the event if they are found to be contravening the Highway Code and remove their number and timing chip.
