The CTC announce the 2nd ?Ride to the Pies? Sportive to start the 2012 Challenge Ride Series on Sunday 26th February.

Following the popular format from last year, the same 2 routes of 57 and 79 miles taking in the beautiful Dorset countryside with a few testing climbs to stretch the early season legs, with 2 feeds and the famous Pies on your return to the Start at the Blandford School, kick off the Series.

To add to the Series the CTC are pleased to announce their first Mountain Bike Sportive on the day before Saturday 25th this exciting new formula will be available at future CTC events and will offer 2 safe routes for the off road riders with a feed and more pies at the finish at the Blandford School.

Further exciting additions are planned for the Challenge Ride Series so watch the website for more information.

Entries are available on line and by paper if you wish we are restricted to 400 riders due to limited car parking and building work at the School, so early entries are advised to secure your place.

Final Instructions
Welcome to the 2nd edition of the ?Ride to the Pies? CTC Challenge ride based in Blandford Forum, Dorset.
This year?s road sportive is preceded by a Mountain bike sportive on the Saturday taking in some of north Dorset?s best off road and quiet lanes.
Event details are listed and we ask for your help with the parking due to building work on the school site
Please remember these are not races and everyone must adhere to the Highway Code at all times and please be courteous to all road users.
Have a safe ride
- START/FINISH BLANDFORD SCHOOL, MILLDOWN ROAD, BLANDFORD FORUM, DT11 7SQ.
- SATURDAY MOUNTAIN BIKE SPORTIVE ride will start at 10.00 signing registration will open at 09.00 to collect your ride numbers and route information, which must be displayed at all times.
- ROAD SPORTIVE SUNDAY START TIMES 08.30 TO 09.30 FOR LONG RIDE
AND 09.00 TO 09.30 FOR THE SHORT RIDE. - Timing will close at 17.00.
- There is limited parking at the school and we would appreciate if you could follow the marshalls directions.
- Changing and showering facilities are available before and after the event.
- Teas and coffee will be available at the start and a ?hot pie? on your return.
- Sunday?s times and certificates can be collected 30 minutes after completion of your ride.
- Sunday signing on will open at 08.00 to collect your number and timing chip which must be displayed on the front of your handlebars for safety and recognition purposes.
- There will be 2 feed points for both rides at West Stafford Village Hall at 29 miles and at Milborne St Andrew Village Hall at 42miles on the short route and 56 mile on the long route. Both feed points will have full nutritional back up from High5 plus fruit and cake.
- The route will be fully signed and hazard signed where necessary. The Ford on the route is currently ride able.
- The will a service motorcycle en route and contact tel numbers will be available at signing on. However we expect all cycles to be roadworthy and routine maintenance such as punctures to be repaired by the riders. Spares tubes will be available at all feeds and on support vehicles.
- Please make a note of the emergency numbers displayed at registration.
