2012 will see the 13th edition of the Phil Liggett CTC Challenge Ride and Sportive.

Phil Liggett
Renowned cycling and sport commentator and ex-CTC President invites you to ride on roads of the Milk Race where Phil was also the Race Director for more than twenty years.
There are 100km and 150km rides to choose from. The epic 150km course near Sheffield includes over 2,600m of climbing including the Peak District climbs of Holme Moss, Winnats Pass and Monsal Head.
Entries limit of 1,000 riders. Online, through the post and on the day if available.
Final instructions will be published on the website and emailed out to each entrant on the Thursday after entries close at midnight on the Wednesday before the event
Please note that members must show their CTC membership cards when signing on at the event.
On-line entries have closed. Entries available on the day with ?5 surcharge.

EVENT DETAILS
Due to this year?s change of date the event HQ will be behind the Lomas Hall, Stannington Sheffield in the adjacent field used in 2011 for the car parking.
We have a tented village in the field and all car parking will be again in this location.
Please use the post code of S6 6DB and follow carefully the directions to the entrance.
CAR PARK will open at 07.00am and not before.
PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL BE A ONE WAY SYSTEM IN OPERATION 07.30-09.00am due to a narrow entrance and anyone dropping off riders please use adjacent roads so not to block the entrance. After the event please turn left when leaving the car park, and be aware of other riders entering the field and give them right of way
PLEASE NOTE there will be no parking in the Lomas Hall car park.
REGISTRATION will commence at 07.30am to 09.00am.
Please sign on in alphabetical order, and collect your number and timing card.
Please display your number on the handlebars (see photo displayed) at all times as this is for the photographer and organisation?s recognition.

START
First riders will leave at 08.00am last riders away 09.00am. (Groups of 10-15 max)
THE START will be in the Lomas Hall car park.
The event is timed using a clock out and in system and your patience is appreciated during the procedure.
The finish will be in the field and care is required while entering the gate and be aware of leaving traffic.
After checking in at the finish you will receive a goody bag and a meal and your certificate will be available 30 mins after the ride.

THE ROUTE
The route remains the same as last year (gpx downloads available on line) with 2 FEED STOPS one for the short ride and 2 for the long at 33m(both) just after Glossop and 71m Little Longstone, offering High5 products and fruit and cake.
Please follow the BLUE CTC ARROWS (see sample on information boards)and ensure you take notice of all warning signs as they are there for your safety.

ROUTE TIMINGS
Please note that feed points and long route closure times will be in place on the day and we ask you to make a note of these at registration along with the emergency telephone numbers all displayed on the information boards.
1ST FEED and ROUTE CLOSES AT 12.00NOON
LONG ROUTE CLOSES AT 14.00
2ND FEED CLOSES AT 15.00
ROUTE AND TIMING CLOSES AT 18.00.
After these times the route signage will be dismantled
Please note if any rider leaves the signed route and falls outside these times please be aware that the route signage could have been removed during this time.
The onus is on the rider to stay on course at all times.

MECHANICAL SERVICE and BROOM WAGON
This year we have the official Shimano Service at the start and the BMW service motorcycle en route. They will check out bikes before you leave if required and help out during the ride.
We do expect everyone to repair their own punctures and minor repairs, it is more serious problems that we will try and help with.
Please be patient as the service maybe on another part of the course.
Should you require collecting through a terminal mechanical or other problem please use the emergency numbers listed at HQ.
We do not have any First Aid en route so please contact the emergency services in the event of an accident and also notify HQ with the details of the rider and their number, please. We will endeavour to help through our normal en route service.

GENERAL INFORMATION
All riders will receive a goody bag and a meal on their return to Stannington, and teas and coffees are available from 07.00 until timing closes.
The CTC SHOP will be operational selling Phil Liggett ride jerseys and caps plus other items from 07.30 to 09.00 and again at 13.00 to 17.00.
For everyone?s safety please read the event terms and conditions.
Please remember this event is run as a Sportive and NOT A RACE so all riders must adhere to the HIGHWAY CODE at all times and any rider breaking these rules will have their number removed and asked to leave the event.
Please be courteous to all road users and fellow cyclists alike and have a safe and pleasant ride.
